Today went by very quickly, mostly due to good weather, easy terrain, and tailwinds. I don't think we'll be quite so lucky tomorrow...

We started out with a quick trip to Starbuck's followed by breakfast at Gonzaga, then headed east out of Spokane on the Centennial Trail. We turned north and joined Highway 2, which took us over rolling hills to Newport, WA, then across the Washington/Idaho border, and on to Sandpoint, ID where we're spending the night camped at the high school. The day flew by except for the flat tires (actually due to superstition we're calling them "unexpected loss of tire pressure that shall not be named"), one Courtney's and the other Bruce's. I rode again with several different groups and individuals and enjoyed the conversation and company of all. When we arrived in at the high school in Sandpoint the truck had yet to be unloaded, and to avoid that task (OK, not really, Jeff!) we went a few blocks into town for milkshakes and to buy post cards. We also shopped for a birthday banner and balloon for Scott Broberg whose birthday is tomorrow; we'll decorate his bike early in the morning. Camp setup, shower, a quick massage, and a spaghetti dinner followed. After that the usual routine of making tomorrow's lunch and heading to bed was in order.

It's raining off and on tonight, and the forecast is for high winds, thunderstorms, and hail.  But we've heard that a high pressure system is moving in so our trip between here and Missoula over the next 2 days will hopefully be nice.
