Slept really well last night, and woke up to a relatively warm and humid morning. Had a quick breakfast after loading bags onto the gear truck, and slapped quite a few mosquitoes as they were out with a vengeance. My legs were really tired from the ride yesterday and we started out slowly. The terrain was more hilly than we expected, and not as spectacular as the vistas yesterday morning through the fog, but were nice nonetheless. There were quite a few areas where the road was really rough and it took it's toll on my shoulders and neck, as well as my bike - several bolts worked themselves loose and needed tightening along the way. Even though the first 2/3 of the ride took a while, I don't remember much of it; that's kind of how it goes out on the road, we get into a groove and the miles just go by.

We passed through checkpoint and crossed the border into Illinois in the town of Beloit, and most of the remainder of the day was on high traffic roads with varying quality of shoulders. I stopped at the library in the town of Belvidere to check email, stopped at the Dairy Drizzle for a banana shake with David and Catherine, then rode out of town to the campground. We're staying at a nice private campground with a pool, laundry facilities, and a great dining hall where we can hang out without being eaten alive by the mosquitoes. Lunch prep happens in a few minutes, then it's (again!) early to bed.
