| We woke up this morning to fog, moderate temperatures, 100% humidity, and a wind from the west. Headed out after breakfast and just rode and rode. The miles melted away and Bruce and I made few and quick stops in an effort to finish the day. I was really tired after riding for 7 days straight and covering around 650 miles, more riding than I've ever done before at any one time. We arrived at the park in La Porte where we're camped to find a party going on, all arranged by Larry Noll, a Big Rider from 1999. He puts together an amazing event; pig roast, fresh sweet corn, homemade fries, beer, and a DJ playing "old-time rock-and-roll". We did manage to work a shower into the afternoon/evening, and just had a great time celebrating the completion of this stretch. We have a rest day tomorrow, and Larry has arranged for all sorts of activities - water skiing, jet skiing, rides to the laundromat, and even broadband Internet access at the home of a friend of his. I plan to actually lay low tomorrow and rest up for the next stretch of riding into Burton, OH. |
