| This has been a nice, relaxing rest day. We awoke again to heavy dew, both inside and outside the tents. First off we headed to the laundromat via David Van Doorne's son's truck, and had breakfast at a restaurant called Around the Clock while clothes were in the washer. Back to camp after the laundry was finished, and Bruce and I organized our jerseys for the next 4-day segment. Bruce then headed off to church, while I just relaxed, dried out my tent, repacked my bags, and relaxed with the Sunday Chicago Tribune. Bruce called me when church was over, and Joe DeNapoli and I rode our bikes into town and met Bruce for lunch at Louie's Cafe. A trip Walgreen's followed lunch, then the three of us rode to the movie theater and watched the Bourne Supremacy (I managed to stay awake for this one!). Back to camp, then Bruce and I caught a ride with Bob Lamb to his house, where he and his wife Lois have opened their home to those of us needing Internet access. I updated this site and enjoyed some great conversation with Bob and Lois. Bob has been instrumental in creating marked bike routes in the La Porte County area (see http://members.csinet.net/lambc). They gave us a ride back to camp, we had our meeting and lunch prep, then David, Steve and I rode back into town for a dessert from Dairy Queen. We had a nice ride back through the La Porte neighborhoods to camp, where it was time to go to bed. |
