| Woke up earlier than I planned this morning to
hear Joe DeNapoli saying "holy s&%t" repeatedly, so I got up to see what the
problem was. Turned out it was a spectacular rainbow and lighting on the
clouds, and I took the opportunity to take a bunch of pictures. After the
excitement died down, I got changed, and then the weather proceeded to go
downhill with a steady rain for about 30 minutes or so. I hung out in my
tent until the storm passed, then headed into town with Bruce, Paula (crew)
and Courtney for breakfast. To the library to do some web site updating and
email checking, and then were picked up by Courtney's friend Jill, who took
us shopping (bike stores, Radio Shack), and then on to Geauga Lake Park (http://www.geaugalake.com)
to ride some roller coasters. Joe, Bruce and I spent about 4 hours riding
rides and having a great time - I lost count of how many times I was upside
down. I think my favorite was X-Flight, which suspended you like Superman
under the track and went every which way.
Click here for a video of
us riding another coaster called Thunderhawk (caution - 27MB file). Jill picked us back up and brought
us back to the fairgrounds, where I jetted into the coffee shop to take
advantage of a wireless connection. Back to the camp to lube my bike chain
and get ready for next week. We were then joined by Steve Luper (works for
Microsoft in Columbus, OH), his friend Steven, and their daughters who took
us to dinner in town. We had a great time and was really nice of them,
especially since we had never met. Another wonderful rest day on the Big Ride! |
