| Today was a short day, but a good preparation
day for the hills of Pennsylvania. We arose and left about ½ hour later than
usual, and rode with a tailwind in unseasonably cold temperatures. We rode
through quite a few Amish communities and saw a number of horse and buggy
combinations. Bruce and I stopped for a bit at the checkpoint and then in
Canfield at about 40 miles to buy some lunch to take into camp, then
proceeded to the Chapparal Campground just outside of Salem, OH. After
setting up tents and showering, we spent some time working on our act for
the talent show. The show started at 4:00 pm, and featured singing, stand-up
comedy, take-offs on Jeopardy and Weakest Link, and Bruce and I recreated
the Johnny Carson bit with Carnac the Magnificent. The 2 hours went by
quickly and we laughed and laughed - what a great time! Dinner was a
"build-your-own-sandwich" bar, and then it was time for web site updating
and bed. |
