Today was a relatively uneventful rest day; I spent more time today on Big Ride housekeeping tasks then past rest days since we got in so late yesterday and I didn't have time to do them then. I awoke at 6:00 am out of habit, and after a shower Bruce and I dropped our clothes at the laundromat before stopping at a cafe for breakfast. Back to the laundromat to dry clothes and finish up yesterday's web pages, then we went in search of an Internet connection. We found one at the office of a local ISP (http://www.SuperPA.net), and I was able to get everything through yesterday updated, although it took until just before noon. We dropped our clean clothes and laptops off at the tents, then stopped at another cafe for lunch, where we met Paula, Joe and Brian. After lunch I had an interview with Mark (videographer), and then we headed out on our bikes to soak up some Civil War history.

We rode through a couple of the battlefields and looked at countless monuments and descriptions of the battles. The Battle of Gettysburg was the bloodiest of the Civil War battles; over 16,000 died, were wounded, or were missing on July 1st, 1863 alone. It was interesting to see these sights after learning about them long ago in history class, but on a rest day I'm not cut out to be a tourist so we headed back after a couple of hours.

Bruce headed out for a massage while I cleaned up the tent and got ready for tomorrow, then I joined David V., Steve, Justine, Joe and Chris for a walk to the Chinese buffet restaurant about ½ mile up the road. Delicious dinner and plenty to eat, but as we were finishing up the skies let loose with some pretty hard rain. We hung out at the restaurant for some time until the rain abated somewhat, then walked back to camp, still getting wet in the process. Oh well, it'll just prepare us for tomorrow if the forecast holds true. Several people returned from dinner to find their tents set up in a puddle, so they are sleeping in the locker rooms tonight. My tent is working just fine in the rain, and since the temperature has cooled and humidity dropped I'm anticipating a good sleep.
