Cycling the Erie Canal 2006 - July 9th to 16th, 2006
Cycling the Erie Canal 2006 is an 8 day, 400 mile ride along the Erie Canal in New York from Buffalo to Albany. I am doing this ride with my 10½-year-old son Liam on our Rodriguez tandem. The ride is organized by Parks & Trails New York, a non-governmental, not-for profit, statewide membership organization. Their mission is to work to expand, protect and promote a network of parks, trails and open spaces throughout the state for the use and enjoyment of all. See the Cycling the Erie Canal web site for more information.
Our journey actually begins with a 3 day trip on Amtrak from Seattle to Buffalo via Chicago, on the Empire Builder and Lake Shore Limited routes.
